Sunday
School.
Jan 1923
The Sunday School has suffered a severe loss in the retirement of Miss Dawson who has been compelled to give up her work owing to home claims, and for reasons of health. For twenty-eight years she has given of her best ungrudgingly, and during the last eight years has carried out the onerous duties of superintendent of the Kindergarten department, which is without doubt the most difficult post in the School; only those in close contact have any idea of the splendid work she has accomplished.
As a token of gratitude, and of the regard in which she is held, a beautiful silver-backed hair brush and hand mirror were presented to her by her fellow teachers on November 26th, when Miss Davis, Miss Fearnley and |
Mr.
Hammond (who made the presentation
expressed their great regret at Miss Dawson's departure, and thanked
her on
behalf of the teachers for her noble
work,
wishing her a speedy restoration to the best of health
Miss Dawson
thanked the teachers for their kindness, though it was quite evident
that the
laying down of the work and the break with the old associations was a
great
shock to her.
The members
of the congregation and the parents of the scholars are greatly
indebted to
Miss Dawson for her selfless labours, and their gratitude will be
amongst the
pleasantest of Miss Dawson's recollections of her long connection with
the Sunday School.
